WordPress Announces “Like” and “Reblogging” Features
Today WordPress announced the addition of two new features: the ability to quickly reblog posts and “like” posts, in an effort to make its platform more social.
The reader is presented with a “Like” button, which gives instant feedback to the author. As new users click on the like button, the counter increases. Nothing new here, but it is good to see native support for features that are commonplace and not it the core of WordPress. Once you click on “Like,” you are presented with a drop-down and it give you other options.
If you run a blog and you decide that you want to share the post with your constituency, then you can use the new “Reblog this post” link. The link will take you to a new QuickPress tab, which contains the title, the beginning of the post you are reblogging and an image, if one exists.
There is also “Posts I Like” tab, which will aggregate all of the posts that you have liked across all WordPress.com blogs. This would serve as your archive where all posts that you like will be stored with images, rather than plain titles.
As you can see above, this functionality also comes with a search feature, enabling you to search the posts that you have liked/archived.
